National Insurance Company Limited was incorporated under the General Insurance Business Nationalisation Act in 1972 and it became one of the four subsidiaries of the Indian General Insurance Companies, fully owned by the government of India. In August 2002, National Insurance was delinked and became an independent company.

National Insurance provides various general insurance services like Motor insurance, health, fire, marine, engineering, rural, and government scheme-based insurance policy products and services. It also operates in foreign countries with insurance service availability.

How to Register a Complaint to National Insurance?

You can call the customer care representative on the toll-free customer care number. Also, send an e-mail or lodge an online complaint through the mobile app or online portal of National Insurance. The issues will be resolved within the given time limit.

Physical Application: You can also write a physical application as per the given complaint registration form (download from the table). Mention all the required information and submit it to the Grievance Officer or manager of the divisional branch office.

Procedure to File an Online Complaint:

Step 1: Visit the link to ‘file an online complaint’ from the table above. and register on the Grievance Management System (GMS) of National Insurance.

Step 2: Log in to the GMS portal and click ‘Post New Grievance’ to open the online form.

Step 3: Fill out the online grievance form with the details of the category of insurance, policy number, Insurance details, category of the grievance, description of the grievance, and other asked information.

Step 4: Finally submit the form and note down the reference number for future usage. To track the status of the complaint, log in again and click the view status option.

Grievance Redressal Officer, National Insurance

The Grievance Redressal Officers are the higher authorities to resolve the unsatisfied and pending (more than 15 days) registered complaints of the policyholders/consumers. National Insurance ensures to take care of that each issue must be resolved within the given time limit to provide seamless and faster services.

If your complaint is yet not resolved or not satisfied with the redressal then escalate it to the zonal CRM officer, and after 15 days, further to the Grievance Officer (CRM) of head office. You can send an e-mail or can contact them by the phone numbers of the officials.

Tips – You can also write an application mentioning the complaint number or acknowledgement number of the previous complaint and policy number with a description of the issue and responses.

File Compliant to IRDAI and Insurance Ombudsman

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India is the apex body that regulates insurance companies and ensures the protection of the interests of consumers and policyholders. If your complaint is not resolved or not satisfied with the final level Grievance Redressal Officers (GROs) at the Head office of the National Insurance then you can file an online complaint at the IRDAI by Bima Bharosa portal.

Note – Further, if your grievance is not resolved you can file an online petition or case to the Insurance Ombudsman (Council of the Insurance Ombudsman) with the required information ( disputed value up to 30 lakh ).
